Reliance Water Controls – Thermostatic Mixing Taps, Showers & Valves (TMV’s)
Reliance Water Controls manufacture water control solutions including Thermostatic Mixing Taps, Showers & Valves (TMV’s) for the sanitary, plumbing and heating industry. Reliance Water Controls Cold Water Meters are single or multi-jet meters for monitoring and metering water supply.
Thermostatic taps, showers and valves control the output temperature of water to reduce the risk of burning or scalding users whilst ensuring water is stored at a high enough temperature to kill or disinfect legionella bacteria.

Thermostatic Taps, Showers & Valves (TMV’s)
Reliance Water Controls offer a full range of thermostatic products to cover different requirements and to suit the appropriate standards and regulations including BREEAM, WRAS, TMV3 and NHS MES D08.
Thermostatic taps, showers and valves all operate using the same principle which is to blend hot water with cold water to provide a constant and safe output temperature for the users. This blending technology allows water to be stored and circulated at temperatures above 55ºC. At temperatures between 20-50ºC Legionella bacteria will grow and Legionnaires Disease can develop from small droplets of contaminated bacteria.
Storing water at temperatures between 55ºC will kill legionella bacteria within 5-6 hours, at 60ºC within 32 minutes and at 66ºC within 2 minutes. Between 70-80ºC the water will be disinfected, however storing water at high temperatures can result in burns and scalding with children, the elderly and disabled being at a higher risk. Thermostatic mixing valves reduce the risk of burns and scalds by blending cold and hot water to result in a typical output temperature between 38ºC and 44ºC.
Reliance Water Control products are WRAS approved and a large number of thermostatic taps, showers and valves are TMV2 or TMV3 approved for use within domestic, commercial and healthcare premises.

Reliance Water Controls Thermostatic Mixing Taps
Reliance Water Control’s Caremix taps have an integral thermostatic control and are designed with a “pipe in pipe” system which prevents hot water from coming into contact with the outer brass surface preventing the surface from rising and becoming a safety hazard for vulnerable users.
Additionally, the outer surface of the Reliance Caremix thermostatic taps can be cleaned quickly and easily ensuring a high level of water hygiene can be maintained. The surface can withstand stronger cleaning materials and chemicals typically used within the health care industry.

Ausimix Thermostatic Mixing Valve – RWC TMV’s
Reliance Ausimix is a thermostatic mixing valve (TMV) which provides high performance and accurate temperature control with a rapid failsafe feature in the event of either of hot or cold water supply failure.
Ausimix has a highly stable temperature control with a differential of +/- 2ºC and a compact body for ease of installation even in areas with restricted space – the TMV valve comes with either 2-in-1 or 4-in-1 fittings and has a temperature adjustment tool incorporated into the cap which is factory set at 38ºC but can be increased up to a maximum of 46ºC.
Ausimix valve is approved for both the TMV2 and TMV3 scheme and complies with the NHS MES D08, BS EN 1111 & BS 7942 regulations. As with all Reliance Water Controls products the valve is also WRAS approved.
Reliance Water Controls Applications
Reliance Water Controls thermostatic control systems can be used to control the output temperature of water in almost any application, commercial, domestic or industrial but is especially certified for use within a number of healthcare buildings where children, the elderly and infirm are at a particular risk of burns or scalding.
TMV3 approval scheme ensures that thermostatic mixing valves comply with the NHS specification D08 and can therefore be used within these premises. The TMV3 scheme is a third party scheme managed by BuildCert and was developed to ensure mixing valves are manufactured to handle the variations in water supply conditions found in the UK – this includes low pressure from gravity fed systems, mixed pressure systems from high pressure mains cold water and low pressure hot water supplies.
Mixing valves which pass TMV3 tests are approved with a 5 year certification with tests including thermal element endurance tests, hot spike tests, response on adjustment, shut off and stability with changing pressures, inlet temperatures and reduced flow rates. Similarly, the TMV2 scheme ensures valves adhere to a standard which is less strict for domestic applications.
