Stewart Buchanan – Pressure Gauges & Temperature Gauges
Stewart Buchanan are manufacturers of process instrumentation including a range of gauges (pressure and temperature measurement), valves, mono-flanges, manifolds and assemblies. The Stewarts range of products are used throughout many industries including oil and gas, petrochemical, hydraulic, food and beverage, heating and ventilation, power generation and hazardous area industries.
With over 140 years experience, Stewart Buchanan has developed an enviable reputation for the manufacture and development of technologically advanced pressure gauges and temperature gauges with quality design and innovation.
Stewarts pressure gauges and product range are in use globally and since 2011 the company has been a totally employee owned enterprise.

Measuring Pressure, Temperature, Heating & Ventilation
The range of Stewart Buchanan pressure gauges, valves and manifolds are used throughout many industries including oil and gas, petrochemical, test and inspection, food and beverage, hydraulic and power generation.
In addition to pressure gauges, Stewarts are also manufacturers of high pressure needle and ball valves, needle valve and ball manifolds, injection valves, distribution manifolds and instrumentation, panel & instrument assembly temperature gauges and double block & bleed valves.
Stewarts Specialised pressure gauges
subsea pressure gauges range
The Stewarts range of specialised pressure gauges have been developed for measuring of absolute and differential pressures with an analogue display. For the optimal solution for the widest range of applications there is a choice of measuring systems. There are Bourdon tube, diaphragm element and capsule element technologies.
The range of pressure gauges are manufactured from copper alloy, stainless steel or special materials for the various requirements within process and industrial applications.
There are three variants within the Stewarts pressure gauge range, all developed for different applications:
- Vibragauge – Designed to alleviate problems caused by vibration
- Snubbagauge – Alleviates any problems caused by shock and surge
- Nitelitegauge – Ideal for use in dark or poorly lit areas
In addition to the range of specialised analogue pressure gauges, Stewarts are also manufacturers of subsea pressure gauges both compensated and non-compensated. In addition to the range of subsea gauges, there is a range of chemical seals, differential and thermometers gauges.
Compensated subsea pressure gauges have a 100% filled case manufactured with a compensation device that allows the internals of the case to be pressurised that is equal to the external ambient pressure as the gauge is submerged to the required depth.
This method is beneficial as the internal and external pressures remain in balance removing the need for a pressure proof case allowing the 8000 series gauges to work on the deepest depth applications.
Stewarts Gauges & process measurement equipment
Stewarts pressure gauges are used globally throughout many industries for a variety of applications however not all gauges are created equally. The most common type of pressure gauge used are those with bourdon tubes and they combine high grade measuring technology with ruggedness and flexibility.
Pressure gauges with bourdon tubes also have the benefit industrial and cost-effective production and do not require an external power supply making them the best and most common choice for most applications.
Pressure gauges are crucial components within most processing systems and in these working environments the gauge needs to be reliable, accurate and easy to read in order to prevent any failings within everyday operations as this can results in financial and productivity losses.
The most common applications for pressure gauges range from highly automated chemical processes such as refineries and petrochemical processing to hydraulic and pneumatic installations. Stewarts pressure gauges can be found at all critical process monitoring and safety locations throughout energy industries.
