Following the success of our previous CompEx Ex Awareness course, which attracted more than 200 registrations, Thorne & Derrick is offering 20 fully funded places on a further course taking place on 12 October 2026, with support from Pepperl+Fuchs.
Designed for employees who work in, enter or support hazardous areas, the one-day course will improve workplace safety, strengthen awareness of explosive atmospheres and develop delegates’ understanding of hazardous-area risks.
Following the CompEx Ex A course, Terry McDonald (Business Development Manager, Thorne & Derrick) will deliver a dedicated presentation on the serious safety risks posed by FAKE ATEX products and fraudulent certification.

CompEx Ex Awareness (Ex A)

CompEx Ex Awareness (Ex A) is an entry-level qualification designed to raise awareness of key risks, hazards, and safety practices essential when working in environments where explosive atmospheres may be present.
This one-day course provides essential insight for personnel who enter, manage, or support operations in hazardous areas — without requiring hands-on electrical training.
Duration: 1 Day (4–6 hours)
Date: Monday, 12th October 2026
Location: South of the UK – venue tbc
Assessment: 25-minute multiple-choice exam
Certificate: CompEx Digital Certificate (valid for 5 years)
