Installing Hughes safety equipment helps companies to react quickly to potentially dangerous situations keeping their workforce safe at all times.

Indoor Unheated Safety Showers – including mobile, portable and cubicle showers with various options. Suitable for applications where there isn’t the possibility of freezing or overheating depending on local ambient conditions.

Indoor/Outdoor Unheated Safety Showers – including drench showers that can be combined with eyebath units. Suitable for outdoor applications as well as indoor due to being unaffected by climate changes such as minor frost or heat from the sun.

Outdoor Heated Safety Showers – including emergency drench showers that are unaffected by freezing or overheating. Suitable for use in flameproof areas (Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas, ATEX Certified).

Tank Showers – Tepid Water – including temperature controlled drench showers and shower cubicles. Suitable for use in cold climates as the equipment is pre-insulated to stop freezing.

Hughes Tank Showers

Hughes Tank Showers are heavy duty in design and are used when warm water is required or when a permanent water supply isn’t possible as they are able to operate independently. Suitable for use when the water pressure is inadequate and the flow rate is insufficient these tank showers can be used for many worldwide applications.

Hughes tank showers have a self-contained water supply in a large stainless steel tank.

Tank shower are often located outside in areas such as large industrial complexes where a mains water supply would be costly and hard to install. For example large industrial complexes, docksides or any other areas where a mains water supply would be difficult or expensive to install. The outdoor tank showers are heated and pre-insulated to stop frost in low temperatures and the tropical versions are insulated to aid temperature maintenance.

These are simple devices to use and aren’t disrupted if the water or power supply is affected. Emergency tank showers are an economical solution as the cost of installation is lower than normal plumbed in showers. Tank showers are operated when the panic button is pressed or when the foot panel is touched.

Offered in different sizes and capacities with all models meeting or exceeding ANSI Z358.1 2014 standards:

Why use Safety Showers?

Hughes safety showers and equipment provide an on the spot decontamination unit allowing the user to flush away any harmful substances – quick reactions are crucial as they help to decrease the seriousness of the injury.

Chemical splashes should be rinsed immediately before seeking further medical treatment. Delaying treatment even by a few seconds may cause a serious injury.

Safety showers should be in accessible locations that require no more than 10 seconds to reach and should be within a travel distance no greater than 30.5m (100 feet) from the hazard.

It is advisable that each safety shower on site is identified by a highly visible sign so the user can easily see it. The area around and/or behind the safety shower should be painted bright and illuminated.

Safety showers and safety equipment can be found in the following work areas and operations:

  • Battery Charging Areas
  • Laboratories
  • Spraying Operations
  • High Dust Areas
  • Dipping Operations
  • Hazardous Substances Dispensing Areas
  • Surface & Underground Mining

For over 45 years Hughes have been players in the following industries:

The Manufacturing Industry

Unfortunately accidents can happen even when best practices and all safety precautions are taken. Potential hazards to workers in the manufacturing industry can occur at any time from working with raw materials, in warehousing and in production and process environments. Safety showers play an integral role in keeping safe all staff as they help to reduce the effect of chemical spills that can led to more severe injuries.

They are easily accessible and ready for instant use which is essential in modern industry due to a wide range of hazardous risks present in working environments. Hughes have developed an exceptionally wide range of products for personnel decontamination and are the largest manufacturer of safety showers in the EU.
