Hughes Safety Showers are specified throughout the worldwide Oil, Gas and Petrochemical industries – hazardous area showers manufactured by Hughes Safety Showers provide workforce protection against fire risks and hazards in potentially explosive atmospheres.
Safety showers certified according to the ATEX Hazardous Area Directive are available with trace heating tapes to provide frost protection against low temperatures.
Safety showers provide an on-the-spot decontamination unit so workers are able to safely flush away corrosive solutions or substances that may otherwise cause personal injury.
Hughes safety showers offer a fast solution when workers have been exposed to hazardous substances. These hazardous area safety showers provide an excellent solution when quick reactions are crucial to minimise the risk of serious injuries.
The self-contained 1600 litre and 2000 litre emergency tank showers are designed to operate in hot and cold climates and have low power consumption for maximum operational economy.
If the safety showers and their integral eyewash are used at the same time, there is still a sufficient flow of tepid water to ensure the minimum 15 minutes showering recommended in the American National Standard ANSI Z 358.1.
- ANSI/ISEA Z358.1-2014 American National Standard for Emergency Eyewash & Shower Equipment
Hughes hazardous area safety showers can deliver this performance without being connected to the mains water supply – their two new models extend the range of emergency safety showers now available from Hughes and have been introduced as a result of customer feedback which suggested a need for larger capacity tank showers for certain installations.

Hughes EXP-EH-5G emergency safety showers are suitable for hazardous area installation according with ATEX certification for Zone 1 & Zone 2 Gas Groups IIA and IIB, Temperature Class T3 (IIC available).
The safety shower is operated by a pull handle for ease of use in an emergency situation – with a removable self-draining overhead shower nozzle, Hughes EXP-EH-5G is specifically designed for high flow rates. The ATEX shower is pre-insulated with polyurethane foam to provide maximum insulation and has a corrosion resistant polyethylene outer jacket.
