The NEW SX PIR By Securex is an ATEX PIR motion sensor that offers 15 meter quad element detection helping to increase safety and security on your site.

The ATEX PIR is designed to work with intruder alarm and access control systems or lighting control systems to provide a highly effective solution for security monitoring or energy conservation in Ex classified hazardous areas Zones 1, 2, 21 & 22.

The SX range includes door contacts/sensors and other intruder detector products. The hazardous area PIR’s are designed specifically for use in hazardous areas such as the oil, gas, petrochemical, substation battery rooms and pharmaceutical industry – anywhere where there is a potentially explosive atmosphere.

The ATEX PIR is a movement sensor that detects a moving body heat (infrared) signature. When this occurs an alarm output signal will alert the alarm/monitoring system accordingly. The range also incorporate Anti-Mask and Anti-Tamper technology to ensure maximum security.

ATEX PIR For Lighting Control Systems

Passive infrared (PIR) sensors use a pair of pyroelectric sensors to detect heat energy in the surrounding environment. These two sensors sit beside each other, and when the signal differential between the two sensors changes (if a person enters the room, for example), the sensor will engage. That may mean it triggers an alarm, notifies authorities, or maybe turns on a floodlight.

ATEX passive infrared sensors (ATEX PIR sensors) are a fantastic energy saving solution if you need lighting in a room which isn’t in constant use. These sensors detect body heat given off by people or animals and contain a photodetector which then converts light into an electric current. This then triggers an alarm that activates the switch and activates your ATEX LED lighting switching it on.

ATEX PIR sensors for lighting can be used in a whole range of ways. For example, the PIR motion sensors can be connected to a lighting control system to provide a cost-effective security system and are particularly useful in situations where you need hands free lighting automation. Examples of this include when entering a room with your hands full or needing hands free activation for hygiene purposes – such as public toilets, corridors or other buildings where light is only needed as and when required.

As they remain off for the rest of the time, the ATEX Pir’s do not waste any electricity.
