VEGA VEGAPULS 21 Radar Level Sensor

VEGA VEGAPULS 21
Radar Level Sensor
VEGAPULS 21
VEGAPULS 21 is a radar level sensor manufactured by VEGA that provides non-contact level measurement of liquids and bulk solids in standard applications in all industrial plants. The sensor has ex approval and is certified to the current ATEX & IEC standards. It is particularly suitable for use in water treatment, storage tanks with acids, lyes and additives in all industrial areas, or for measuring levels in plastic tanks or IBC container from the outside through the tank wall. In bulk solids the sensors are used in small bulk solids silos or open containers.
The VEGAPULS 21 is a maintenance-free operation due to non-contact 80 GHz radar technology and is able to give exact measurement results independent of medium properties and process conditions.
A low cost sensor with a a 4 … 20 mA/HART output, measuring range of up to 15 and a plastic housing (IP66/IP67) making the VEGAPULS 21 suitable for simple measuring tasks.

How It Works?
The level sensor emits a continuous radar signal through the antenna. The emitted signal is reflected by the medium and received as an echo by the antenna. The frequency difference between the emitted and received signal is proportional to the distance and depends on the filling height. The determined filling height is converted into a respective output signal and output as measured value. VEGAPULS 21 is user-friendly, wireless setup and diagnosis via Bluetooth with mobile devices or PC.
Appplications
Level measurement in the conditioning tank
VEGAPULS 21 provides continuous level measurement with radar in the conditioning tank for optimal dosage control and chemical usage. The applied chemicals and precipitants are suitably conditioned to ensure that they reach the wastewater in an optimal, low concentration. They are metered out according to the degree of pollution and mixed with the wastewater. Continuous level measurement is employed to ensure optimal metering control.
Sludge receiving station Level measurement
VEGAPULS 21 provides non-contact level measurement for monitoring the level in the sewage sludge reception area. Sewage sludge from small decentralized sewage treatment plants or sewer cleaning operations is delivered in special vehicles. It is collected in a receiving tank and then gradually fed into the main sewage treatment plant for processing. Continuous level measurement determines the content of the receiving tank and controls the input to the plant.
