Trace Heating & Heat Trace Systems: Sodium Sulphite

TRACE HEATING CABLES & SYSTEMS

Sodium Sulphite

Thorne & Derrick stock and distribute trace heating cables and provide heat trace system designs for process maintenance, pipe and vessel freeze protection – this includes industrial and hazardous area approved electrical trace heating for potentially explosive atmospheres (ATEX & IECEx).

Sodium Sulphite is an inorganic compound that is used as an antioxidant and preservative. It is a pale yellow and water-soluble solid. Sodium sulphite can be prepared by treating a solution of sodium hydroxide with sulfur dioxide.

  • Formula: Na2SO3
  • Molar Mass: 126.043 g/mol
  • Density: 2.633g/cm3 (anhydrous) 1.561g/cm3 (heptahydrate)
  • Freezing Point: 20°C

Trace heating is able to heat up and maintain Sodium Sulphite in highly corrosive atmospheres.

➡ T&D stock trace heating cables in a range of technologies including self-regulating, constant wattage, mineral insulated and parallel resistance types with international hazardous area location classifications.
