Pepperl+Fuchs manufacture a wide range of terminal boxes and junction boxes for the installation of signal and power distribution networks in hazardous areas – this includes Zone 1/21 and Zone 2/22 explosive gas and dust atmosphere applications.
The junction or terminal boxes are certified according to ATEX standards for use in potentially explosive atmospheres and also hold various international approvals such as IECEx and EAC – Types of explosion protection include Ex e (Increased Safety) , Ex ia (Intrinsic Safety), Ex tb (Protection by Enclosure), and Ex op pr (Optical Radiation).
There are a variety of enclosure sizes and custom configurations with different terminal and cable gland types to suit the end application. Junction boxes and terminal boxes, manufactured by Pepperl+Fuchs, can be manufactured from glass fibre reinforced polyester (GRP), aluminium or a high quality stainless steel.

GR SERIES – Glass Fibre Reinforced Polyester
Glass fibre reinforced polyester is the standard enclosure and junction box series for all Pepperl+Fuchs products. The enclosure consists of carbon-loaded, glass fibre reinforced polyester with stainless steel screw covers.
The GR series of enclosures provides an anti-static, UV-stabilized, and corrosion-resistant solution which is simple to install and operate in hazardous area locations.
These ATEX junction boxes and enclosures are certified for operation in temperatures as low as –60 °C and can be used in many different applications as a replacement for stainless steel.
SLS series – Stainless Steel
Compact stainless steel terminal boxes and enclosures are the ideal solution for small applications.
They are a low cost terminal enclosure arrangement which can decrease the total time needed for installation.
The rugged design of these junction boxes provides a high degree of safety for offshore applications as well as other hazardous areas where the junction boxes or terminal boxes could be subject to adverse chemical, mechanical or climatic operating conditions.
FXLS series – Stainless Steel
The Pepperl+Fuchs FXLS series of terminal and junction boxes features a return flange sealing method to prevent dirt, dust, and moisture from entering the enclosure when it is opened. FXLS enclosures are made from a high-quality AISI 316L grade stainless steel with an electropolished surface which prevents corrosion and tarnishing.
This type of surface finish is ideally suited to meet hygienic requirements needed for use in applications within pharmaceutical and food processing plants.
EA/DA series – Aluminium
This series from Pepperl+Fuchs offers four different sizes of Increased Safety enclosure for safe use in hazardous areas.
Ex e and Ex tD certified enclosures are manufactured from a marine-grade aluminium with increased resistance to corrosion. This meets the requirements of many indoor and outdoor applications.
EA/DA terminal and junction boxes can be equipped with various types of terminals and cable glands based on your individual needs.
FXLS.FO series – Fibre Optic Splice Box (Stainless Steel)
The FXLS.FO range of fibre optic splice boxes, manufactured by Pepperl+Fuchs, is based on the FXLS series design.
These splice boxes are designed specifically for protecting optical fibre cable splices, particularly in applications within hazardous areas classified as Zone 1 and 21 (Gas) and Zone 2 and 22 (Dust).
Several different splice tray and cable entry configurations are available.
HVB6.6 series – High-Voltage Terminal Enclosure
HVB6.6 series enclosures are manufactured from electropolished 316L grade stainless steel to provide excellent tarnish and corrosion-resistance for high voltage power distribution.
This surface finish of the enclosure is designed to meet the hygienic requirements in hazardous area sectors including pharmaceutical and food processing plants.
