Guided Radar Level Measurement

VEGA VEGAFLEX Guided Wave Radar Level Measurement – Hazardous Area Zone 1 & Zone 2 ATEX & IECEx.

VEGA VEGAFLEX guided wave radar level measurement sensors are ideal for applications with a variety of process conditions and with no moving parts, the VEGAFLEX sensors are unaffected by shifts in pressure, temperature, or product specific gravity, making the range reliable for level measurement in potentially explosive atmospheres (hazardous areas) and non-hazardous (safe areas).

Guided wave radar has many benefits over traditional level measurement including no moving parts and easy to configure electronics which  eliminates many of the measurement and maintenance issues associated with traditional methods.

In addition, guided wave radar is not affected by temperature, pressure, or specific gravity shifts, making the technology less susceptible to the measurement errors often associated with capacitance probes and ultrasonic transmitters.

VEGA VEGAFLEX Guided Wave Radar Principle

VEGA VEGAFLEX Guided Wave Radar Principle

In solids applications, the VEGAFLEX is able to reliably measure during the fill and empty cycles, overcoming the common errors seen with ultrasonic sensors.

VEGA vegaflex guided Wave Radar Level Measurement – Product Benefits

VEGAFLEX guided wave radar level measurement sensors are suitable for measuring in a wide range of applications and industries as the instruments are unaffacted by foam, dust, and vapor, making the guided wave principle multi-functional across liquids and solids measurements.

As there are no moving parts, the VEGAFLEX is ideal for retrofitting in mechanical technologies.

VEGA VEGAFLEX level measurement instruments reduce maintenance and installation costs and further cost savings can also be achieved through longer test intervals, as well as faster and simpler tests.

Guided Wave Radar Principle Of Operation

The principle of guided wave radar is a relatively simple, effective method of measuring levels of liquids and some solids.

The VEGAFLEX emits a microwave pulse to the process surface “guided” by a metallic cable, rod, or coaxial tube.

The microwave pulses are reflected from a solid or liquid material. The transit time of the microwave pulse returning to the electronics is measured and used to calculate the distance to the process medium.

VEGA vegaflex Sensors For Hazardous Areas

The full range of VEGA guided radar level measurement sensors is suitable for use in hazardous areas and are manufactured with a wide range of hazardous area certifications. Approvals include ATEX, IEC, FM, CSA, Gost, overfill protection, Ship, SIL2.

Many industries require hazardous area level measurement including food and beverage, chemical, oil and gas, automotive, paper and pharmaceutical.
