A fuel cell is an electrochemical device that produces electricity without combustion. The optimal energy carrier for fuel cells is hydrogen (which can be extracted from methanol, natural gas, water or petroleum products). When hydrogen is combined with oxygen it produces electrical energy. Hydrogen gas is delivered to a negatively charged anode on one side of the cell while oxygen is channeled to a positively charged cathode on the other side.

SILICONE HEATER TYPE
Silicone pad – custom made circular/round silicone pad heaters.
SILICONE HEATERs APPLICATION
Surface heating pads to stainless steel bubblers and top plates for fuel cell application. Client required a control temperature of 130 degrees Celsius with a maximum temperature of 200 degrees Celsius. Due to the small surface area this required a heating solution with a high watts density.
BENEFITS OF SILICONE
Silicone material is resistant to moisture and does not suffer ingress associated with mineral insulated heating elements – their thin lightweight construction enabled smooth integration into the fuel cell manufacturing process.
Self adhesive silicone heater pads provide a smooth profile and compact surface heating with minimum space displacement. Heating mats can be made to almost any size including small intricate shapes making it an ideal solution for this particular application – this silicone heating technology also gives the client the option of 12V, 24V, 48V, 110V or 240V power supply.
SAFE or HAZARDOUS AREA?
Safe area heating. Contact T&D for specialist advice on ATEX & IECEx certified products for hazardous area heating applications.
What is a Fuel Cell?
A fuel cell is an electrochemical device that produces electricity and heat from a fuel (often hydrogen) and oxygen (usually from the air). Unlike a conventional engine, it does this without burning the fuel and is both cleaner and more efficient.
