Fluorescent Light Fittings

Appleton ATX FE Series Linear Light | Increased Safety

Zones 1 & 2 – Zones 21 & 22

Product Category: Hazardous Area Lighting | Nonmetallic Fluorescent Light Fitting

The Increased Safety FE Series of Zone 1 & Zone 2 fluorescent light fittings, manufactured by Appleton ATX,  provide added protection for a wide variety of locations.  The light fittings are suited to applications in both non-hazardous as well as onshore or offshore hazardous areas with a corrosive environment or potentially explosive atmosphere – these fluorescent light fittings can be installed where detergents or severe weather may be a problem.

ATX FE nonmetallic fluorescent light fittings suitable for Zone 1 & Zone 2 hazardous areas are protected against the elements by a gasket, produced using elastomer, and a latch assembly to ensure a consistent and durable seal which is resistant to water and dust ingress. The lens, body and hardware are all corrosion-resistant, thus making the Increased Safety FE Series an ideal hazardous area lighting option for locations such as pulp and paper mills, oil refineries, warehouses, petrochemical facilities, food processing plants and underground tunnels.

These fluorescent light fittings are available as a standard variant or with an emergency battery back-up to offer a wide range of Increased Safety features. A positive safety switch disconnects the power to lamps and ballast to allow safe servicing and maintenance in hazardous locations.

FE fluorescent light fittings may be suitably mounted in either a horizontal or vertical position.

Flameproof & Explosion Proof – What Is the Difference?

The terms flameproof and explosion proof have the terminological meaning in that the electrical equipment intended for installation into a hazardous area zone is constructed using a such a design that an internal ignition (sparking) of a flammable atmosphere (gas, vapour or dust) will not be transmitted outside of the equipment and thereby preventing the ignition of surrounding flammables in potentially explosive atmospheres.
