Appleton ATX FDBAESLEDEM
Zone 1 & Zone 2 (Gas) | Zone 21 & Zone 22 (Dust) Hazardous Areas
FDBAES Series of Flameproof LED Escape Lights, manufactured by Appleton ATX, provide emergency lighting in hazardous areas designated as Zone 1, Zone 2 , Zone 21 and Zone 22. The LED units are entirely self-contained within a flameproof enclosure, and feature a built-in, automatic self-test system.
These escape lights are available in switched, unswitched, addressable switched and addressable unswitched hazardous area lighting versions. Flameproof LED escape lights are ideal for use in or around pulp and paper mills, oil refineries and petrochemical plants.

Selecting the Right Lumen Level
As LED light fittings are more efficient than the High Intensity Discharge (HID) equivalent, a watt-for-watt replacement would produce significantly higher than desired levels of lighting. Generally, an LED equivalent hazardous area light fittings produce the same light, but with 1/3 to 1/2 the energy consumption of HID lighting. More information on upgrading from HID to LED lighting can be found here.
As mounting height, beam pattern, and overall lighting conditions can all affect the perceived lighting levels, it is always best to request a lighting simulation and a light fitting sample. Contact us at Thorne & Derrick for more information.
