Pressure Gauges

Pressure gauges from Ashcroft enable accurate, reliable pressure measurement for the monitoring of fluid pressure levels and help to meet the demands of many industries including water management and waste-water.

Ashcroft pressure gauges are highly rugged and built for use in harsh conditions in varying industries. Typical applications include filters, strainers and separators as well as being commonly used within HVAC applications.

For applications that require both high performance and uncompromising hygiene within the food production industry, Ashcroft pressure gauges provide precise pressure control and help to optimise flow rates from material handling, mixing and pumping to processing and conveying.

Pressure Gauges – Seletion & Application

How To Select The Correct Pressure Gauge

The 7 Steps to choosing the correct pressure gauge:

            1. Accuracy – When using a mechanical pressure gauge, accuracy is defined as a percentage of the full-scale range.
            2. Dial Size – Pressure gauge dial sizes range from less than 1˝ to 16˝ diameters. Generally, readability requirements, space limitations and required gauge accuracy determine dial size.
            3. Case Style & Material – Environmental considerations to include are ambient temperature, air-borne particulate, condensation, humidity, water and chemicals all of which can affect gauge performance.
            4. Media & Wetted Parts – Wetted parts of the pressure gauge are the Bourdon tube and socket must be compatible with the process media. If they are not then corrosion will occur.
            5. Connection Size – Pressure gauges are available with varying connection sizes including NPT, DIN, JIS, BSP & SAE. Factors to consider when selecting a pressure gauge connection include process pressures, gauge size and weight, space limitations and leak integrity.
            6. Connection Location – The following options should be considered when selection the connection location:
              • Stem mount lower connect
              • Wall/surface mount lower connect
              • Panel mount back connect
              • U-clamp flush mount back connect, for panel mounting
              • Front flange flush mount back connect, for panel mounting
            7. Pressure Ranges – ASME B40.100 recommends that normal operating pressure be confined to 25%-75% of the scale. If pulsation is present in the process, maximum operating gauge pressure should not exceed 50% of the full-scale range.

Ashcroft Pressure Gauges In The Wastewater Water Treatment Industry

Ashcroft pressure gauges are designed to meet the tough requirements of the wastewater industry and have long been the benchmark when a solid front, ASME grade 2A, 1 ⁄2% accuracy pressure gauge is required.

Other exclusive features include a 400 Series stainless steel movement for longer life, an epoxy coated system for corrosion resistance, and the patented Duratube Bourdon tube for superior strength. All of which make Ashcroft products suitable and durable for use in this industry.

In addition, the patented PLUS!™ performance option provides the performance of liquid filled gauge in a dry gauge. The PLUS!™ performance dampens vibration and pulsation which provides an east to read gauge with no fill lines.

Video: Features of the Ashcroft DG25 Digital Pressure Gauge

Ashcroft DG25 general purpose digital pressure gauge with a laser welded stainless steel sensor and socket making it suitable for a wide variety of pressure demanding industrial applications.

Ashcroft DG25 adapts basic form and fit of a standard 2.5 Inch mechanical gauge but with distinct advantages including easier readability, high resolution and greater accuracy to plus/minus 0.25% of full span.

An LCD that displays up to five digits including a bar graph to show the pressure status relative to the gauges full scale. With the push of a button there is a variety of features including the ability to tier a pressure pre-load or to change the unit of measurement.

For applications like burst testing, the Ashcroft DG25 can store and report the maximum and minimum readings since last cleared. The pressure gauge also has a watertight IP67 rated enclosure and is unharmed by humidity, rain and temporary submersion. These features along with the laser welded stainless steel parts makes the Ashcroft DG25 suitable for many applications.

Ashcroft Pressure Gauges For Sanitary Service Within The Food & Drink Industry

Pressure gauges are available in many dimensions and options to suit specific requirements and applications within many industries. Within the food and drink industry, hygiene and food safety is absolutely key to ensure smooth production and prevent plant downtime.

Each product that leaves production has wholesome, stringent hygiene standards to meet and it is therefore critical that the whole production plant and all its components meet the same standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

Ashcroft strive to meet hygiene regulations and many of their products have received 3-A® Sanitary Approvals. Whether measuring fermentation levels, discharge pressure or sterilisation temperatures, Ashcroft products are accurate and safe to use in these areas.

FAQ’s

Q1/ How do I accurately calibrate my Ashcroft pressure gauge?

A1/ Where required always wear PPE when calibrating equipment. To calibrate your pressure gauge you will require a pressure source, an accurate gauge and means to monitor micro-switch contacts. First, exercise the switch to make sure it is operating correctly. Start from zero PSI and increase to full range, then return to zero. Do this three times.

To measure an increase in set point, start at zero and increase the pressure to the set point. To measure dead band, simply reduce the pressure gradually until the light on the micro-switch turns red.

Q2/ How often does an Ashcroft pressure gauge need to be calibrated?

A2/ This is quite subjective and depends upon the severity of the indicated pressure. The environmental limitations for the pressure gauge series should be observed in all cases.

Gauges used in situations outside these requirements may result in inaccuracies, premature wear and/or failure of the gauge and would require additional maintenance. The frequency of calibration therefore, is best left to the user to determine.

SIKA PRESSURE GAUGES – DIGITAL & MECHANICAL GAUGES

T&D also distribute the Sika range of Pressure Gauges – this includes digital and mechanical gauges. SIKA pressure gauges are quality measuring instruments fitted with stainless steel cases as standard and comply with EN 837-3 European standards.

SIKA pressure gauges use 3 different measuring elements: bourdon tubes, diaphragms and capsule elements.
