In capacitive level measurement the sensor and the vessel form the two electrodes of a capacitor.
Any changes in the level that occur cause a capacitance change which in turn is converted into a level signal. The version of VEGA capacitive level sensors with shortenable cables and rods enable the range to cover many applications.

VEGA VEGACAL capacitive level sensors are suitable for the measurement of bulk solids and homogeneous liquids that offer stable electrical measuring conditions. Aggressive liquids can also be measured as well as extremely adhesive products.
Capacitive level measurement is extremely economical and allows measurement over the entire sensor length without dead band. The rod versions and shortenable cable enable the sensors to be adapted to any application and make installation extremely simple. The reliable and maintenance free operation and long product service life is a result of the robust mechanical sensor design.
The fully insulated sensor also measures aggressive liquids and provides an accurate, cost effective way of measuring product levels.
The Measuring Principle
In capacitive level measurement the sensor and vessel form the two electrodes of a capacitor and any change in capacitance due to level change is converted into a signal.
