Electrical Heater Application & Benefits | The portable electric fan heater with ATEX Certification was selected after careful competitor evaluation to provide a safe comfort heating solution to operatives working in a drum filling station, filling containers, with a potential explosive atmosphere and flammable properties.

A portable solution was required to safely heat an outdoor shelter, classified as a hazardous area, provided to operatives filling containers at a drum filling station to enable comfortable working conditions and continued productivity. However, due to the design and constriction of the shelter, consisting of only 3 covered sides and a roof, minimal reduction was seen in winterisation impacts to the workers – heat loss being a major issue. The filling container operatives required sufficient levels of air warming to overcome low ambient temperatures and maintain labour productivity, through the provision of adequate levels of comfort electrical heating for the workforce.

EXHEAT MFH

The client required a portable heating solution certified by ATEX for safe use in hazardous areas to heat up the local area with an inlet to outlet increase of 18°C.

We provided the solution to the client of the EXHEAT MFH, 5.5-240 model, which is ATEX & IECEx certified, and offers Ingress protection of IP65. The MFH heater (“Bulldog”) is constructed with polyamide PA66 with glass and steel fibre reinforcement.

The electric heater was also supplied with additional anti-static ducting to enable targeted and directed control of the air flow to improve energy efficiency and maximise the heat output in the potentially explosive atmosphere.
