ATEX Magnetic Door Contacts Hazardous Area Zone 1 & 2 Door Contacts
ATEX Magnetic Door Contacts
SX EX Security Magnetic Door Contacts
Access Control Security Solution For Zones 1, 2, Zones 21 & 22
SecurEx SX EX Security Magnetic Door Contact are the newest members of the SecurEx SX product family designed specifically for use in hazardous areas and the world’s first ever specifically designed for use in EX classified hazardous area. They form part of the access control security solution and can work collaboratively with the SX range of ATEX Maglocks.
The ATEX Magnetic Door Contacts are specifically designed for use in hazardous area (Ex environments) Zones 1,2, 21 & 22 – providing an unrivalled ‘Ex Certified’ security solution for alarming and door status monitoring / access control.
Robust in design the reliable ATEX security contacts work with either a SecurEx door controller and other access products for intruder detection, alarming and access control applications in hazardous (Ex) environments.
Both ATEX & IECEx certified the magnetic door contacts are designed to bridge a gap in the market when it comes to security solutions for hazardous areas.
The ATEX security magnetic contacts have been designed both ‘form and function‘ in mind and are available in four standard grades which have been designed to meet the requirements for Grade 2 & Grade 3 applications:
- SX-ID-P211X1A GRADE 2 Fully Potted Alarm Contact With Tamper Loop
- SX-ID-P212X1A GRADE 2 Fully Potted EOL Alarm Contact With Tamper Loop
- SX-ID-P213X1A GRADE 2 Fully Potted Supervised SEOL Alarm Contact With Tamper Loop
- SX-ID-P214X1A GRADE 3 Grade 3 Fully Potted & Supervised TEOL Alarm Contact With Tamper Loop

ATEX Magnetic Door Contact
Each contact set comprises of a robust, fully potted, certified magnetically actuated read switch assembly with matching coded magnet which has been designed for easy alignment on site. Being fully potted all contacts are inherently resistant to tampering.
However, Anti Tamper mounts are provided as standard with both the Grade 2 SEOL & Grade 3 TEOL versions and Magnetic Anti Tamper is also provided in the Grade 3 product.
The small-footprint contact assembly also incorporates an integral earth bonding point for enhanced safety. Additionally, custom EOL, SEOL & TEOL resistance values can optionally be specified to special order if required.
An optional roller door adaptor kit is also available, making this product suitable for virtually all applications and providing both enhanced safety and security for personnel.

Security Magnetic Door Contacts For Hazardous Areas
Mounting Options
The SX EX Security Magnetic Door Contacts set has been designed for use on a wide range of door types. The set comprising of a special contact and matching magnet.
The contact is a two part assembly comprising of the switch and its mounting base which is designed to be independently mounted beneath the contact.
The Grade 2 SEOL & Grade 3 TEOL units which are supplied with a special security base plate that also incorporates an anti-tamper feature which triggers the tamper relay in the contact if the contact is subsequently removed.
Exploded views of the common mounting arrangements for both the contact and magnet are pictured above.

Electrical Contact Configurations
Installation Considerations
The SX-ID-P21XXXXA series security door contacts can be installed and used just like any conventional door contact, the contact usually being fitted to the frame and the magnet fitted to the door.
Electrical Installation
Each contact is factory fitted as standard with a 5m grey, mult-core ‘wire braided’ cable.
The 5 signal cores MUST be appropriately terminated via a suitable certified Ex e gland into a local Ex e junction box. Generic circuits for the four standard contact switching systems are illustrated in the below.

Electrical Contact Configurations
SecurEx Standard End of Line (EOL), Supervised End of Line (SEOL) & Triple End of Line (TEOL) resistances are as follows unless otherwise requested:
- EOL – 2k2Ω EOL
- SEOL – 2k2Ω EOL, 4k7Ω Alarm
- TEOL – 2k2Ω EOL, 4k7Ω Alarm, 2k2Ω Tamper Fault

Definitions
Grade 2 Contacts
These are suitable for use in Ungraded, Grade 1 and Grade 2 systems. These magnetic contacts are required to have a mechanical tamper and/or be potted/sealed. End of Line (EOL) resistors are an option but are not a requirement to meet Grade 2.
Grade 3 Contacts
Grade 3 contacts are suitable for a wide range of applications and can be used in Ungraded, Grade 1, Grade 2 and Grade 3 systems. These magnetic contacts are required to have a mechanical tamper and/or be potted/sealed. End of Line (EOL) resistors are also an option. They should also detect or be immune to rogue magnets.
