Hazardous Area Enclosure Heaters
EXHEAT HEF hazardous area enclosure heaters provide increased safety (Ex e) heating and air warming for Zone 1 or Zone 2 (Flammable Gas) hazardous areas and explosive atmospheres according to ATEX Directive.
The EXHEAT HEF range of enclosure heaters has self regulating properties eliminating the need for a thermostat. The compact design of the HEF makes this enclosure heater ideal for anti-condensation, frost protection and temperature control.
EXHEAT HEF hazardous area enclosure heaters are certified to meet ATEX equipment directive and IECEx standards and can be mounted in almost any orientation.
Features of EXHEAT HEF Enclosure Heaters
- Hazardous Area Certification – Declared in accordance with ATEX directive 2014/34/EU and CSA (Divisions and Zones) standards for North American markets
- Design – Enclosure heaters are compact, low profile, 316 stainless steel case, requires minimal space
- Self-regulating can be used without a thermostat
- Temperature Range – suitable for ambient temperatures from -60°C (-55°C for CSA certified models only) to +80°C
- Installation – Mounting of the enclosure heater can be in any orientation
- Design allows for closer installation proximity to internal components and cables (minimum distance 100mm away)
EXHEAT HEF enclosure heaters provide frost protection and air heating to prevent equipment breakdowns due to freezing condensation – this ensures the continuous operation of delicate instrumentation in enclosures and maintaining room ambient temperatures at safe working levels.

HEF Hazardous Area Enclosure Heaters – INSTALLATION
- The enclosure heater must be installed in accordance with IEC / EN 60079-14
- HEF should be securely fixed in position and all connections checked for tightness before energising
- The HEF heater is designed for use inside an enclosure. The supply cable is not suitable for use outside an enclosure and must be protected from all risk of damage

|Heater Power Rating||The HEF range is available in a nominal 30W, 50W, 100W, 200W and 500W outputs|

|Controls||The HEF is self-regulating, automatically reducing its output as the ambient temperature rises. If overall enclosure temperature control is required, it is recommended that the HEF heater be used in conjunction with the AFT, HFT or FXT flameproof air sensing thermostats|
|Mounting||The heater may be mounted in any orientation, using appropriate securing bolts through the mounting feet or DIN rail holes|
|Voltage||Models available for 110V to 120V and 230V to 240V 1 phase supplies (max 254V subject to design parameters)|
The EXHEAT HEF must be installed according to IEC / EN 60079-14 and should be securely fixed in position and all connections checked before energising.
The HEF is designed for use inside an enclosure as the supply cable is unsuitable for use outside and must be protected by the enclosure to reduce the risk of damage.
