Electrical Heater Application & Benefits | The portable electric fan heater with ATEX Certification was selected after careful competitor evaluation to provide a comfort heating solution to workers in a large warehouse involved in hazardous processes. The portable ATEX heaters, with T class rating – T3, were supplied by Thorne & Derrick to the UK’s leading renewable energy company – an ideal electrical heating solution for use in this Zone 1 Hazardous Area.

According to HSE law, the minimum temperature in a workplace should be at least 16 degrees Celsius, or 13 degrees where work involves physical rigorous effort.

As the employer has a duty to determine and maintain a reasonable comfortable working temperature, we have assisted in this case by supplying a suitable heating product to deliver the required localised heating to four workers and workstations. The ‘Bulldog’ portable heater has not only delivered the required working temperatures to the workers in the warehouse, but has also enabled further worker productivity; derived from the new comfortable working environment.

This localised heating solution serves as an efficient alternative to heating the entire warehouse – which would lead to potential significant heat loss and costly energy requirements. The portable ATEX heater was supplied with an isolator and flameproof enclosure with emergency stop button for additional safety.

EXHEAT MFH

Thorne & Derrick provided the solution to the client of the EXHEAT MFH, 6-254 model, which is ATEX & IECEx certified, and offers Ingress protection of IP65. The MFH heater (“Bulldog”) is constructed with polyamide PA66 with glass and steel fibre reinforcement. The MFH Bulldog has an 18°C heat up from inlet to outlet, making it the ideal choice for this large warehouse application to deliver the required comfort heating to workers.
