Electrical Heater Application & Benefits | The portable electric fan heater with ATEX Certification was selected after careful competitor evaluation to provide a safe heating solution to equipment – essential for the operation of the production line.

A portable solution was required to safely heat an indoor manufacturing facility, involved in chemical processes and classified as a hazardous area, to safely and efficiently heat 3.3KV motors on the manufacturing site. These motors were vital for operating the machines needed in the manufacturing process, however, the client had experienced start-up difficulty of the motors during the detrimental colder months; as well as issues with condensation.

The manufacturing facility required sufficient levels of air warming to overcome low ambient temperatures and ensure the smooth operation of the plant, through the provision of adequate levels of heating for the site. Ducting was also required to channel the heating into the motor enclosure – diminishing the impact of heat loss on the facility. Due to the significant use of gases and chemicals, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, carbon monoxide and hydrogen in fertiliser production, an ATEX certified heater was required; that could also be ducted in hazardous environments to aid manufacturing in hazardous areas.

EXHEAT MFH

The client required a portable heating solution certified by ATEX for safe use in hazardous areas to heat up the motors via ducting into the enclosure.

We provided the solution to the client of the EXHEAT MFH, 6-440 model, which is ATEX & IECEx certified, and offers Ingress protection of IP65. The MFH heater (“Bulldog”) is constructed with polyamide PA66 with glass and steel fibre reinforcement.

The electric heater was also supplied with additional anti-static ducting to enable targeted and directed control of the air flow to improve energy efficiency and maximise the heat output in the potentially explosive atmosphere.
