This Case Application for “The Bulldog” electric heater, which is manufactured by EXHEAT and is stocked and distributed exclusively in the UK by Thorne & Derrick, focuses on an application where the client required a solution to ensure the safety and comfort of operatives working in an oil rig located in an offshore Hazardous Area.

Electrical Heater Application & Benefits | The portable electric fan heater with ATEX Certification was selected after careful competitor evaluation to provide a safe comfort heating solution to workers and operatives in an oil rig “dog house”, an operative’s small enclosure located on the rig floor, to provide dog house heating for worker comfort.

A portable solution was required to safely heat the Dog House enclosure situated offshore. These hazardous offshore work-sites are compounded by the harshest of environments; workers are affected by the many potential dangers, as well as the low ambient temperatures which can greatly affect worker productivity. Thus, the operatives required sufficient levels of air warming, through the use of an ATEX approved heater, to enable continued productivity of the workforce.

To assist this application, we supplied the Offshore Portable Fan Heater. This offshore design of the “Bulldog” includes a range of upgrades and add-ons, which differs this model from the standard, including a local isolator, anti-static castors and two side handles. With the range of additional options available, this heater is tailored specifically for offshore applications.
