Drum & IBC Spill Pallets (Plastic & Steel Sump Pallets For Containing Hazardous Spills)
A complete range of spill pallets or sump pallets for safe storage of drum and IBC containers – pallets available for single or multiple storage of drums and IBC’s with 4 way forklift entry and outdoor covered units.
Spill pallets ensure safe storage, transportation and warehousing of liquids and hazardous substances in 205 litre drums and 1000 litre intermediate bulk containers (IBC’s).
Pallets to store drums or containers with a sump to contain spills are suitable for use with small containers, two, four or eight drums, or up to four IBCs. Drums and IBC’s are elevated from the ground by the spill pallet providing effective spill containment.
Typical applications include spill containment of oils, fuels, chemicals, solvents, detergents, petrols and hazardous liquids – contact us to discuss safe storage and spill risk control of flammable liquids in hazardous area locations.
Common oils stored by drum or IBC containers include vegetable, synthetic, biodegradable, hydraulic and lubricating oils.
➡ Did you know? T&D International are the UK’s largest stockist, supplier and exporter of Drum & IBC Heaters – this includes insulated heating jackets for standard 205 litre drums and 1000 litre IBC Tote containers.
Site operators have a Duty of Care to ensure commercial and industrial premises which store drums and IBC’s use a Secondary Containment System, such as spill pallets, to ensure compliance with The Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) (England) Regulations 2001.
Drum Spill Pallets
suitable for 205 litre (45 gallon) capacity drums
Drum spill pallets for use with standard 205 litre (45 gallon) drums – contact T&D for spill pallets to suit non-standard drums. Sump pallets in a range of sizes to accommodate single or several drums with forkliftable option – covered pallets for outdoor use and galvanised steel fabricated drum pallets are available. Fully compliant with all the current UK regulations.
PLASTIC DRUM SPILL PALLETS
Plastic spill pallets designed to improve warehousing, storage and housekeeping of 205 litre drums – fully compliant with current UK regulations. 4-way access drum pallets suitable for 2, 4 or 8 x 205 litre drums are available eliminating the need to drag spill pallets to gain access to the fork pockets. Designed for use with 205 litre drums the robust sump pallets feature a removable grid deck for access to the sump to aid cleaning in the event of a drum spillage.
COVERED DRUM SPILL PALLETS
Drum spill pallets with integral self assembly weather protection covers to prevent sumps filling with rainwater – covered sump pallets are fully compliant with all current UK regulations. 2 types of covered drum pallets are available: sump pallets with weather protection covers and lockable hard-covered sump pallets.
Weather protection spill pallets are recommended for storing single or up to 4 drums outdoors while preventing rainwater flooding the sump due to the self-assembly steel frame and polyethylene weather cover. Hard-covered lockable drum pallets provide convenient and effective storage for up to 4 x 205 litre drums where additional security is required – option with shelving, suitable for smaller containers or with a cradle for horizontal drum storage is also available.
STEEL DRUM SPILL PALLETS
Robust steel fabricated drum spill pallets for use with 205 litre drums – effective drum containment in non-hazardous (safe) and hazardous areas (potentially explosive atmospheres) reducing leak risk, spill spread and pollution incident. Drum pallets have a fully seam welded sump with removable grid mesh deck for easy cleaning and fork-lift hoops to aid transportation around worksites.
Drum spill pallets for 2, 4 or 8 x 205 litre drums are made from galvanised steel with fully seam welded sump – compliant with all the UK regulations relating to sump capacities and a removable galvanised steel grid mesh deck is fitted as standard. 150mm wide fork hoops are integral to the spill pallets which are used for transporting the pallet and ensuring the underside of the sump is above ground level.
IBC SPILL PALLETS
suitable for 1000 litre capacity IBC containers
IBC spill pallets include rotationally moulded plastic IBC pallets with covered options for outdoor use and steel fabricated type for industrial applications – excellent chemical compatibility, lightweight and resistant to corrosion.
PLASTIC IBC SPILL PALLETS
IBC spill pallets store containers and reduce the risk of leaks and spill spreading causing contamination. IBC spill pallets are available for use with one or two x 1000 litre containers.
COVERED IBC SPILL PALLETS
IBC spill pallets complete with weather protection covers to prevent the sump filling with rainwater – versatile and flexible for use indoors or outdoors. For additional security covered IBC spill pallets with lockable roller shutter door to prevent unauthorized access are available.
STEEL IBC SPILL PALLETS
Steel fabricated IBC spill pallets for use with 1000 litre IBC containers – robust IBC spill pallets with fully seam welded sumps, galvanised grid mesh deck and forklift hoops to aid transportation.
The Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) (England) Regulations 2001
Secondary Containment System
Bunds Or Drip Trays (Regulation 3) 24
“Regulation 3(2) sets out the requirements for the secondary containment system. A secondary containment system is a further container* to catch any oil leaking from the primary container or its ancillary pipework and equipment. This may take the form of a ‘bund’ used for primary containers, including multiple drums or a drum storage area, or a ‘drip tray’ for a mobile bowser or drum or any other containment system for preventing oil which is no longer in the container from escaping from the place where it is stored.”
- the container mentioned in the Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) (England) Regulations which stipulates the minimum legal standards for storing oil are more commonly called spill pallets.
Secondary containment systems catch leaks or spills from the primary container in use – storing drums and IBC’s in a suitable secondary containment system significantly reduces spill risk and pollution in accordance with UK legislation.
Correct use of secondary containment reduces environmental pollution to land, surface waters and groundwater from the storage, maintenance and handling of drums or IBCs.
Should you require assistance with Spill Pallet selection for following applications please contact T&D : petrol, diesel, biofuels, chemicals, kerosene, vegetable oils, synthetic oils (normally lubricating oils, eg motor oil), biodegradable oils (usually lubricating or hydraulic oils) solvents or Zone 1 & Zone 2 hazardous areas.
