Marechal SP 700Amps Socket Outlets – 1000V IP6667 IK08 Single Pole Power Connectors

Marechal SP 700Amps socket outlets have a current rating of 700A and a maximum voltage of 1000V. SP 700Amps socket outlets have a locking mechanism with pilot-contact circuit with automatic IP66/67 watertightness when the plug is connected.

The SP socket outlets offer high performance thanks to the butt-contact principle, the SP withstands conti-nuously up to 700A / 1000 V a.c. or 1500V d.c. (70 mm2 to 400 mm² conductors), withstands at least 2000 operations.

SP Characterisation

SP Characterisation

Permissible current according to conductor cross-section at 30 °C ambient temperature.

Red Line –   Maximum permanent permissible current in the SP after 2000 operations depending on cable cross-section

Grey Line – Maximum intensity of permanent current specified by the cable manufacturers to maintain a conductor core temperature < 85 °C

Blue Line – Maximum intensity of permanent current specified bythe NFC 15-100 or the IEC 60 364-5-52 standards to maintain a conductor core temperature < 70 °C

MARECHAL HIGH CURRENT CONNECTOR TYPE SP

The SP is a single-pole device whose socket-outlet is fitted with an auxiliary switch allowing its interlocking with a switching device, thus avoiding any accidental connection/disconnection under load. Live parts are protected against contact test finger (IP2X/IPXXB), according to IEC/EN 60529 standard. When connected, devices have an IP66/IP67 protection. The socket-outlet alone has an IP66/IP67 protection when the cap is in place.

Warnings

  • These accessories must be installed by a qualified electrician, according to applicable installation standards and to the present instruction sheet
  • Use a conductor cross-section suitable for the load
  • The tightening torque must not be transmitted to the insulating part of the accessory. Maintain the rear of the contact with a suitable key while tightening
  • Respect tightening torques
  • These accessories must be used according to their designed destination, in a strict respect of the required operation of connection and disconnection
  • Marechal accessories must be used with Marechal complementary accessories only. Any repair or service must be achieved with genuine Marechal parts only
  • The cables must not exert any constraint on the accessories

Install & Operation Guidelines
  • The nominal current and voltage must be indicated on the supplied adhesive stickers which must be then filled out legibly and affixed on the devices.

Pilot Wires

Use flexible conductors with a cross-sectional area between 1.5 mm² and 4 mm² and strip them by 8 mm. Crimp one of the supplied lugs (blue for 1.5 mm² and 2.5 mm² conductors, yellow for 4 mm² conductors) by means of a Mecatraction type TH2 or TH3 crimping pliers.

To ensure the IP66/IP67 rating of an interlocked connector, use a cable that incorporates the 2 pilot conductors required for electrical interlocking.

Power Conductor

Wiring

  • Strip the conductor (see Table T1).
  • Crimp the threaded lug or the ferrule with an appropriate die (NFC 20-130 or EN 61238-1 or another). A double hexagonal crimping is recommended. For threaded lugs, do not crimp beyond the line.
  • Apply a torque of 40 N.m.

Plug / Inlet and Socket-Outlet / Connector Caps See Figure F2.

Place the lug located at the tip of the wire under one of the fixing screws. To perform IP66/IP67, the socket-outlet cap must be assembled with its slot in front of the socket-outlet protruding finger.

Colour-Coded Rings

The colour of this ring allows visual identification of the pole, according to the standardised colour code. Place these rings between the inlet or socket-outlet and its rear accessory or panel board. These rings act as seals.

Isolating Ring

When assembling the SP on a metallic support (enclosure, panel, etc …), the isolating ring must be positioned as indicated on Figure F3. Do not forget the flat black gasket, which guarantees the watertightness, between the isolating ring and the accessory.

Figure F3

A : Colour-coded ring
B : Isolating ring
C : Flat gasket

Socket-Outlet Fixing See Figure F4.

Apply a torque of 2 N.m on each screw.

Operation See Figure F5.

Insert the plug straight into the socket-outlet, until a ‘click’ is heard. The plug and its flexible cable must not exert constraint on the socket-outlet (see WARNINGS). Pull on the plug to ensure that it is properly latched in the socket-outlet. Slightly turn the plug in either direction until its rotation is locked. See Figure F6.

To lock the plug into the socket-outlet and to close the pilot circuit (if any), turn the ring of the socket-outlet up to the stop towards “1”. Do not attempt to turn the ring towards “1” when there is no plug engaged. See Figure F7.

To open the pilot circuit and unlock the plug, turn the ring to “0”.

Press the button to release the plug.

Put the cap back in place.
