BASF Petronas Chemicals in Malaysia required a hazardous area lighting solution for their production facility. The specification presented to Wolf by the oil and gas multi-national was a low cost explosionproof lamp solution that minimised downtime caused by how often the bulb needed changing and that required a strong enough light output as the current lamps often had to be used in conjunction with other lighting.

Wolf’s distributor of 10 years+ ETD Makmur (M) SDN BHD in Malaysia suggested the SP-600 ATEX LED Inspection Leadlamp as an alternative to the current low cost explosion proof lamps that were being used inspection and maintenance tasks in the facility. The Wolf SP-600 would increase production efficiency as well as providing an increased light output.

SP-600 ATEX LED Inspection Leadlamp was presented to BASF Petronas where the benefits were clearly identified: high quality, even & ultra-wide angle LED light, 470 lumen high power ‘fitted IECEXfor life’ LED light source, robust and highly durable enclosure to withstand heavy industrial use yet still lightweight and compact for handheld use, ATEX and IECEx approved for Zone 1 & 2 and 21 & 22 explosive gas and dust atmospheres and has an ingress protection rating of IP67.

Following a probation period, during which the users at the facility voiced their delight at the reduced weight, user friendly handle and the 360° swivel hook allowing hands-free operation, ETD were able to show the overall efficiency cost savings due to the reduced downtime.  This resulted in the customer purchasing 11 units with a follow up order for 20 units 12 months later.

The SP-600 ATEX LED Inspection Leadlamp is available in High, Low, and Extra Low Voltage options.
