Due to the location, rigors and onerous environment where our enclosures will be placed it was decided that everything should comply with the strict quality and code of design and build for Atex Zone 2 Restricted breathing lighting & distribution boards.

Restricted breathing (Ex nR) is an Ex n type protection concept and has been around for decades.

It is completely dependent on the ATEX enclosure, and seal, being of such high integrity that if a shutdown were to occur for any reason, the panel will not lose heat so quickly as to decompress thus causing the lid to implode, suck in the hazardous atmosphere, oxygen (air), and with the ignition parts inside the enclosure, then to create the environment for an explosion.
