VEGAPULS 11 is a radar level sensor manufactured by VEGA that provides non-contact level measurement of liquids and bulk solids in simple applications. It is particularly suitable for use in water treatment, storage tanks with acids, lyes and additives in all industrial areas, or for measuring levels in plastic tanks or IBC container.

The VEGAPULS 11 is a maintenance-free operation due to non-contact 80 GHz radar technology and is able to give exact measurement results independent of medium properties and process conditions.

A low cost sensor with a 4 … 20 mA/HART output, measuring range of up to 8 and a plastic housing (IP66/IP67) making the VEGAPULS 11 suitable for simple measuring tasks.

How It Works?

The level sensor emits a continuous radar signal through the antenna. The emitted signal is reflected by the medium and received as an echo by the antenna. The frequency difference between the emitted and received signal is proportional to the distance and depends on the filling height. The determined filling height is converted into a respective output signal and output as measured value. VEGAPULS 11 is user-friendly, wireless setup and diagnosis via Bluetooth with mobile devices or PC.

Appplications

Level measurement in the process water tank

VEGAPULS 11 provides continuous level measurement with radar in the process water tank. The process water is collected in tanks or open basins. Pressure pumps deliver the water for cleaning and rinsing purposes to various locations in the wastewater treatment plant. To ensure an optimal supply of water, the level in the process water tank is measured continuously.

Level measurement in A gravel bed filter

VEGAPULS 11 provides non-contact level measurement with radar in the gravel filter. The suspended matter is filtered out of the water via the sand and gravel filled filter tank. Pressure is applied to pump water through the filter bed. Dirt particles are retained in the filter material. The electronic differential pressure measurement monitors the level of contamination in the filter. As soon as the threshold contamination is exceeded, there is an automatic cleaning cycle of the filter is triggered.
