Hazardous Area Zone 1 & Zone 2 ATEX | Flameproof Control Systems

Flameproof Control Systems – Zone 1 & Zone 2 ATEX Certified
Flameproof Control Systems
EXHEAT flameproof control systems and display panels are designed and engineered to the hazardous area concepts of Ex d and Ex de and are certified according to ATEX and IECEx hazardous area classifications – suitable for Zone 1 and Zone 2 installation.
Full heat dissipation calculations are performed on Ex d and Ex de hazardous area concept panels to ensure full certification rules are followed. Flameproof control systems are available in GRP, marine grade alloy or stainless steel.

Ex d & Ex de flameproof concepts
Ex d – “Flameproof Enclosure” Protection EN 50018 where the potentially explosive or incendive components are contained within an enclosure into which the flammable atmosphere can enter but which will contain any resultant explosion and prevent its transmission outside the enclosure into the hazardous area. Ex de solutions combine the benefits of both the increased safety Ex e and flameproof Ex d types of protection.

hazardous areas & T CLASSes
Temperature class is defined by ignition temperature – the lowest temperature at which a vapour will be ignited.
Flashpoint is the lowest temperature at which a liquid generates sufficient vapour to support ignition – this vapour could be ignited by temperature or energy (i.e. a spark).
Temperature Class | Max. Surface Temperature |
T1 | <450ºC – eg Acetone/Methane Gas Group IIA |
T2 | <300ºC – eg Butane/Propane Gas Group IIA |
T3 | <200ºC – eg Heptane/Ethylene Gas Group IIA |
T4 | <135ºC – eg Ethyl Methyl Ether/Hydrogen Gas Group IIB |
T5 | <100ºC |
T6 | <85ºC |
- there is no connection between ignition energy and ignition temperature
