Non-Contact Radar Sensor Used In The Wastewater Treatment Process – Application

A top British sports car manufacturer wanted to ensure a perfect finish on all vehicles and that all processes in the automotive painting plant ran smoothly.

The most important part of the wastewater treatment process is in the settling tank where the flushed out solids are removed. Any flaws in this process could determent the quality of the paint job. All wastewater is recycled in an environmentally-friendly closed circuit system.

The painting wastewater is heavily mixed with solids so two powerful feed pumps are required to fill the tank which allows the unpurified wastewater to move downwards at the same time.

The solids sink to the bottom and are pumped out of the settling tank before they are disposed of. The clean aerated water flows over which ultimately is placed back into the paint shop for reuse.

Non-Contact Radar Sensor Used In The Wastewater Treatment Process – Solution

VEGAPULS WL 61 radar level sensor was identified as an ideal solution for fast level monitoring in the wastewater treatment process. The settling tank shoots out 140,000 litres of wastewater every minute and the surface can often form a thick sticky foam. VEGAPULS WL 61 radar level sensor’s high accuracy allows the regulation of the inflow fresh water to compensate for evaporation.
