MEDC DB3B | ATEX SOUNDERS

ZONE 1 & ZONE 2 HAZARDOUS AREAS

MEDC DB3B are part of range of lightweight, flameproof ATEX sounders that have been designed with a high weatherproof rating to cope with the harsh environmental conditions found offshore and onshore in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries – in ATEX & IECEx Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas.

The new Eaton MEDC DB3B is a high power ATEX sounder with improved functionality and performance – certified for use in a wide range of temperatures from -55ºC to +85ºC in ATEX & IECEx Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas with SIL 1 rating.

This high temperature rating is unprecedented in an Ex sounder. The highest rated ex certified sounder on the market. The benefit of using a high temperature GRP sounder is that it’s lightweight. The DB3B weighs just 4.6kg, which is around 25% lighter than a stainless-steel sounder.

The Ex enclosure is manufactured from UV stable GRP with a rugged thermoplastic flare providing a corrosion free product. Capable of producing 122dB @ 1m and with a range of pre-recorded tones, the Eaton MEDC DB3B includes an integral volume control which is ideal when a lower output is required.

The DB3B is a highly flexible and customisable product with a huge number of user selectable options.

MEDC DB3B Sounder

MEDC DB3B | SIL 1 Sounder

The SIL 1 Rated sounder is provided with versatile control options allowing compatibility with a wide range of control methods and PLCs. The standard DC unit provides 3 tone stages, each stage has 28 tones available which can be independently selected. The hazardous area sounder can be controlled by reversing the polarity of the power supply (2 stage) or providing a common negative and switching between multiple positive supplies.

The ATEX sounder proves its versatility by additionally being able to work with a common positive supply and switching the negatives. The tone stages of the DB3B can also be controlled via voltage free contacts provided by a control panel.

The flexibility of the range continues with a wide range of supply voltages. The short flare option is worthy addition to the range offering a high SPL in a compact unit.

A wide range of hazardous area sounders are available to order from Thorne & Derrick, to suit individual requirements and applications.

Contact Thorne & Derrick for great customer service, competitive quotations and availability from stock for the MEDC range of sounders, including MEDC DB3B, for safe use in hazardous areas with Explosive Atmospheres.
