Industrial Plugs & Sockets

Amphenol Amphe-309 range plugs and sockets are cylindrical, composite, positive locking power connectors, suitable for use in harsh environments such as those found on construction sites and in commercial and agricultural installations as well as in the lighting and audio power industry.

These industrial grade connectors are resistant to saline solution, diluted acids and bases, mineral oils and UV rays. They also offer limited resistance to concentrated acids and bases and alcohol.

This series includes plugs, connectors, receptacles, inlet, and mechanical interlocks, all of which comply with the requirements of IEC 603 09-1 & 2, EN 60 309-1 & 2, BS 4343-2 1992, and UL 1682 & 1686.

The Amphe-309 consists of both IP44 (Splashproof) and IP67 (Watertight) devices from 16 A up to 125 A, from a simple plug to customer specified combination units.

The voltage is determined by the location of the female ground contact relative to the housing keyway, simply by manufacturing the device with a ground contact in a certain “clock” position, the device will be rated for a particular voltage system.

Industrial Connectors – Clock Face Positions

North American ratings viewing connector and receptacle from the front, clock hour position (h) is established by the position of the earth contact respect the major keyway which is always situated at 6h clock position.

The Amphenol Amphe-309 range covers all clock positions in use from low profile, watertight, and heavy duty solutions.

Approved and certified by CE, UL, CSA and CCC, Amphe-309 covers commercial and industrial applications for international markets, as well as, the North American market.

IEC 60309 (previously IEC 309)

This standard applies to plugs and socket outlets, cable couplers and appliance couplers, for use when the ambient temperature is normally within the range of –25 °C to +40 °C with a rated operating voltage not exceeding 1 000 V d.c. or a.c. and 500 Hz a.c. and a rated current not exceeding 800 A, primarily intended for industrial use, either indoors or outdoors. These accessories are intended to be connected to cables of copper or copper alloy only.
