Crowcon Gas-Pro PID Gas Detector – Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
Crowcon Gas-Pro PID Gas Detector
Single Gas & Multi-gas Detectors | Portable Gas Detection & Safety | Industrial Locations & Hazardous Area Zones
Gas-Pro PID portable gas detector manufactured by Crowcon, can detect 5 gases from many different options using photo ionisation detection or PID technology. PID technology can detect hundreds of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and are therefore ideal for working environments involving solvents, glues, paints and general VOCs.
Crowcon Gas-Pro PID alerts the user when a gas is detected with a 95db audible alarm and dual-coloured visual alarm bars. The optional pump makes this water and dust tight gas detector ideal for a wide range of applications.
Gas-Pro PID Portable Gas Detector
Key Features
- Simple Operation – The Crowcon Gas-Pro PID is operated by a single button for all functions (can be used whilst wearing gloves) and a top mounted display makes it easier to read at a glance.
- Reliability – The lithium-ion battery provides continuous use for 14 hours from one charge and provides a clear warning when calibration is due
- Flexible Options – The Gas-Pro PID can monitor 5 gases from a range of options and has both pumped and diffusion solutions. The device has multiple languages, has an automatic fail safe flow plate recognition and has a specific and unique Pre-Entry Check mode making pre-entry testing a lot easier

Crowcon Gas-Pro PID Bump Testing And Calibration
Routine bump testing is recommended for the range of Crowcon portable gas detection equipment prior to each use. Bump testing is a brief application of a gas to the sensor to invoke a prescribed reaction, ensuring the gas detector reacts as expected.
Bump testing provides a quick, easy and direct method of verifying gas detectors are performing as required and takes a lot less time than ‘zeroing’ the device.
The bump test is widely accepted as a suitable method of testing gas detection equipment.
Crowcon offer bump test solutions with I-Test and Q-test.
In addition, the Gas-Pro PID is suitable for use in the chemical industry, especially if working in or around tanks that contain solvents.
Crowcon PID Sensors – How They Work?
Crowcon’s PID sensors work with a 10.6 electron volt lamp and are able to offer reliable detection of a wide range of VOC’s. The sensor has an internal UV light source, which the gas sample passes through. An electron is released for gases with an ionization potential of 10.6.
