Drum Heaters – Hazardous Area Zone 1 & Zone 2 ATEX Certified
Drum Heaters for hazardous areas
➡ See below for more information about Hazardous Area Drum Heaters to provide safe and reliable electrical heating in potentially explosive atmospheres – drum heaters with international ATEX and IECEx hazardous area certification are available.
- 205 Litre Standard Drum Heater Jackets
- 25, 50 & 100 Litre Drum Container Heater Jackets
- 120V & 240V Induction Drum Heating Jackets
- Base Drum Heaters
- ATEX Gas Bottle Cylinder Heaters
Drum heaters with ATEX certification are suitable for providing hazardous area heating to drums and IBC heaters in Zone 1 and Zone 2 locations (T2, T4, T6 Temperature Ratings) – the drum heaters maintain viscosity, heat-up and provide frost protection of the drum contents including water, oils, fats, waxes and fuels.
Easy access “clam-shell” hinged drum heating units with power outputs up to 4900W and optional supply voltages are available for standard 200 and 205 litre drums.
Non-hazardous area drum heaters are available for “safe” industrial applications where drum contents require heating to prevent thickening, solidifying or crystallizing – drum heating temperatures dependent upon minimum ambient temperature, working location, drum contents and drum size.
Heating Up Drums In Hazardous Areas
Drum heaters are used to raise and heat-up critical process temperatures to prevent drum contents degrading – product heat up times can be controlled by thermostatically operated heaters reducing batch losses caused by sub-optimum temperature levels.
The drum heater – commonly referred to as a band heater, barrel heater, canister heater or container heater – is used to reduce viscosity and improve flow behaviour to ensure filling, pumping or bottling of the drum contents.
Thorne & Derrick distribute both induction drum heaters to provide direct heating and flexible surface heating jackets for drums, IBC’s, containers and barrels of common sizes including 25L, 50L, 105L, 205L and 220L – custom drum heaters and silicone heaters are also available.
