Ultrasonic Level Sensors – vega VEGASON

In non-contact ultrasonic level measurement, short ultrasonic pulses in the range of 10 – 70kHz are emitted from the transducer in the direction of the medium, which then reflects them back.

The time it takes form emission to reception is proportional to the level in the vessel.

Ultrasonic Level Transmitter

Ultrasonic level measurement is an ideal solution for both liquids and solids.

Non-contact ultrasonic level sensors operate independently of medium properties and can even penetrate dusty environments.

Ultrasonic level transmitters can be used to measure most liquids and solids providing accurate level indication in storage or process applications and can be used in temperatures up to 150°C and at pressures up to 3bar.

Ultrasonic level transmitters are unaffected by changes in product density and conductivity – transmitters use linearization software to calculate level versus shape and are able to provide a direct output of volume unaffected by changes to product density, conductivity and is temperature compensated for changes in the speed of sound.

Typical Applications for Ultrasonic Level Measurement

  • Level measurement during processing and storage of liquids
  • Sumps and wastewater tanks
  • Level indication in silo’s and hoppers
  • Over conveyors for low cost non contact flow measurement and detection

T&D recommend the range of VEGASON ultrasonic level sensors for accurate level measurement in a wide range of applications.

VEGA Sensors have over 30 years industry experience and are able to offer ultrasonic level transmitters for measuring spans from 100mm up to 70m in both non-hazardous and hazardous area locations.

The superior performance of the VEGA VEGASON range mean that cost benefits can be achieved as there is no need to invest in more expensive transducer systems.

VEGASON

VEGA ultrasonic level sensors use Echofox® a dynamic signal processing software, proven in use on almost 100,000 applications worldwide.

Even the lowest cost systems have this sophisticated system to handle obstructions, agitator blades and false signals for most ultrasonic level measurement applications.

VEGA VEGASON Ultrasonic Level Sensors

VEGA VEGASON ultrasonic level transmitters fit easily in your process, mounted from the top, fitting sizes start from 1½” BSP with options on longer range solids devices for aiming swivels, flanges and special mounting brackets.

  • Low cost, effective level measurement
  • Installed or changed without emptying your tank
  • Commissioned accurately on or off line without changing the level
  • No moving parts means no drift or recalibration
  • VEGASON handles agitators and obstructions easily using VEGA’s ECHOFOX® software
  • Options for digital ‘multi drop’ systems are available, particularly useful if a number of silos are needed to be measured
  • VEGA offer Profibus and Foundation Fieldbus systems
