HAZARDOUS AREA FAN HEATERS
ATEX CERTIFIED | UP TO 40KW
High Power Temporary Heater
A major development in both onshore and offshore hazardous area heaters sees the launch of the LFH high power fan heater. The first heater in the world to combine high power, portability and ducting options to get heat where you need it.
Existing fixed fan heaters have always offered high power and impressive heat up performance but it has never been possible to add ducting to these heaters. This is because the ducting disrupts the airflow and can cause such heaters to overheat. It is always stated as a special condition of use on any EX certificate for such heaters, that ducting must not be added. The LFH is a gamechanger.
This electric heater provides class leading heat up, air flow and can be ducted front and rear.
EXHEAT LFH Hazardous Area Fan Heater Can Be Ducted Front & Rear
Zone 1 & Zone 2 (IIB) | T2 T3 & T4 Temperature Classes
Designed specifically for the offshore industry and harsh industrial environments – incorporating a stainless steel casing for added toughness and durability, the LFH electric fan heater is designed to operate in ambient temperatures of -40°C to +40°C,
Certified to the new EN 80079-36 and EN 80079-37 standards for constructional safety, the EXHEAT LFH is supplied ready to ‘plug and play’, with the option of fitting a plug, or hard wiring to an isolator unit.
Depending on the heater model selected, inlet air temperatures can be increased by up to 46°C. Heaters are available up to 40kW output and provide class leading, energy efficient heating solutions for both onshore and offshore applications.
The LFH Fan Heater combines superior electrical heating efficiency with simple functionality to provide a next-generation heating solution for use in hazardous area environments where the explosive atmospheres could be present.

This MFH electric heater is certified and modified for offshore applications.
Following the launch of the MFH Bulldog, Thorne & Derrick have worked in close collaboration with the offshore oil and gas industry – this includes exploration and production companies, engineering contractors and ATEX compliance inspectors to ensure the electric heater was fit for purpose. This process involved gaining feedback on the basic design and taking advice on what users needed to comply with offshore regulations for safe use of portable equipment. The offshore model has now been developed and received an Offshore Inspection Release Notice.
The Bulldog heater is now currently being used on assets owned and operated by some of the largest international O&G companies including BP, Shell, Apache and Total.

Thorne & Derrick International, based in the UK, are Experts in Equipment for Explosive Atmospheres & ATEX Product Innovation – we supply and distribute the Marechal range of low voltage power, control and signal plugs and sockets for heavy industrial and hazardous area applications where ATEX IECEx Certified products are required.
In this series of application Blogs we review the use of Decontactors in the food and beverage industry.
High pressure cleaning, temperature variations, mobility: in these conditions, the food and beverage industry requires resistant products. For the power supply of production lines and other conveyors, the Marechal range of industrial electrical socket outlets are ideal because they combine strength and modularity.
Waterproof & Resistant
Cleaning Water Splash & Electrical Risk
In the food industry, high pressure cleaning and temperature variations require resistant products:
Cleaning machines with high-pressure water jets requires, among other things, resistance to high temperatures
The storage of food at low temperatures
Connection of mobile pumps and high pressure washers
Motor Connections
The applications concerned by motor connection in this type of industry are:
Connection with plugs of conveyors powered by motors, cutting machines (slicers, choppers) and control stations;
The power supply of production machines, mixers, packaging units, fans, tanks, mincers;
Modular production lines.
In order to facilitate production, machine change-outs can be simplified by connecting the motor via a socket outlet.
Motor Connections
Hazardous Areas
This mainly concerns silos because dust emissions are likely to occur. ATEX areas require special resistance, in this case to potentially explosive dust.
