MEDC dEV 20 are part of range of lightweight, flameproof ATEX sounders that have been designed with a high weatherproof rating to cope with the harsh environmental conditions found offshore and onshore in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries – in ATEX & IECEx Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas. A wide range of hazardous area sounders are available to order from Thorne & Derrick, to suit individual requirements and applications.

Hazardous areas often require the use of acoustical signals for warning or information purposes. The ExII dEV 20 sounders from MEDC offer both of these signalling features and are designed for continuous operation.

The ExII-sounder dEV 20 has an ingress protection rating of IP66, meaning it is suitable for both indoor and outdoor installation in ATEX & IECEx hazardous locations, and can be ordered from Thorne & Derrick with MEDC call points for integration into fire detection systems in the explosive atmosphere industries.

These hazardous area sounders consist of a flame-proof housing manufactured from a light grade aluminium alloy and a sound channel made from impact-resistant polyester.

The MEDC dEV 20 includes two signal levels. The signal tone for the first level is adjusted with the slide switches 1-5 (S0) according to the signal choice list. The signal tone for the second signal level is adjusted with the slide switches 6-10 (S1).
