Gas-Pro IR portable gas detector, manufactured by Crowcon,  is suitable for pentane, propane or methane gas detection using infrared sensor technology and is ideal for use in the offshore oil and gas industry.
The Crowcon Gas-Pro IR is designed specifically to detect potentially explosive gases where original catalytic sensors (known as pellistor) would have difficulty, particularly in environments where the oxygen level is low.
Crowcon Gas-Pro IR is part of the Gas-Pro gas detection range giving the range greater flexibility when it comes to selecting sensors. The 5-gas multi-gas detector uses infrared technology giving greater reliability and the ability to measure gas in two different wavelengths.
The Crowcon Gas-Pro IR is a safer and more cost effective solution as pellistor replacements are not required when the portable gas detector is used in harsh environments.
C-Test bump solution with configuration update keeps the Crowcon detectors correctly configured to ensure the product is consistently up-to-date without the need for a service or technician team so testing and calibration is very easy.
The Crowcon Gas-Pro IR gas detector is also water and dust resistant to IP65 and IP67.

Crowcon Gas-Pro IR Bump Testing And Calibration
Routine bump testing is recommended for the range of Crowcon portable gas detectors prior to each use. Bump testing is a brief application of a gas to the sensor to invoke a prescribed reaction, ensuring the gas detector reacts as expected.
Bump testing provides a quick, easy and direct method of verifying gas detectors are performing as required and takes a lot less time than ‘zeroing’ the device.
The bump test is widely accepted as a suitable method of testing gas detection equipment.

Crowcon Gas-Pro IR measures gas levels in %LEL and has been certified for use in hazardous areas according to ATEX/IECEx and UL: Â the 5-gas detector can be used to measure gas in oxygen depleted applications such as fuel storage tanks, due to flushing with inert gas prior to maintenance or which still contain high levels of fuel vapour.
