Portable MultiGAS DETECTORS
CROWCON Tetra
Crowcon Tetra | ATEX Zone 1 & Zone 2 Hazardous Areas & Explosive Atmospheres
Obsolete | This gas detection product has now been made obsolete by Crowcon – view complete range of available gas detectors. Suggested replacements are Crowcon Tetra 3 & Crowcon T4.
The Crowcon Tetra is a portable gas detector which can measure up to four gases including flammable gases, oxygen and a wide range of toxic gases – ATEX certified for the safe detection of flammable gases in hazardous area locations, including Zone 1 and Zone 2.
The Crowcon Tetra is intrinsically safe and is the only Crowcon gas detector designed to meet IEC 61508-3 requirements guaranteeing reliable performance.
Crowcon Tetra is available with or without an internal pump and has a rechargeable and disposable option making this gas detector widely used in the utility, chemical and hydrocarbon processing sectors.
C-Test bump solution with configuration update keeps the Crowcon detectors correctly configured to ensure the product is consistently up-to-date without the need for a service or technician team.
The Crowcon Tetra gas detector is also water and dust resistant to IP65.
Crowcon Tetra Portable Gas Detector – Key Features
- Simple Operation – The Crowcon Tetra has a single button operation and an easy to read backlit display for gas readings and diagnostics.
- Robust Construction – The Tetra is manufactured from a rugged plastic housing in order to resist shock and vibration. The durable over moulded rubber adds extra protection and the IP65 rating ensures water and dust resistance.
- Audible Alarms – The loud, 94dBA audible alarm and ultra bright dual red/blue visual alarm ensures the user will be alerted to the presence of gas.
- Flexible Options – There is an optional built-in pump and  rechargeable & alkaline battery versions available. The device is also fully interchangeable with intelligent sensor modules.

Crowcon Tetra Gas Detector Bump Testing And Calibration
Routine bump testing is recommended for the range of Crowcon portable gas detectors prior to each use. Bump testing is a brief application of a gas to the sensor to invoke a prescribed reaction, ensuring the gas detector reacts as expected.
Bump testing provides a quick, easy and direct method of verifying gas detectors are performing as required and takes a lot less time than ‘zeroing’ the device.
The bump test is widely accepted as a suitable method of testing gas detection equipment.
Typical applications and industries for the Crowcon Tetra gas detector include CO2 detection in the brewing industry, oil and gas, petrochemical and offshore.
