Heat Tracing Cables
Heat tracing is the process of applying electrical heat to provide process temperature maintenance of pipes (containing viscous fluids prone to hardening, congealing or gelling). The heating cable can be linearly or helically installed on the external surface of the pipework and then thermal insulation or lagging is fitted over the heat trace cable to reduce heat losses.
Similarly, heating cables can be used to provide frost protection to water pipework at risk of freezing during winter – furthermore roof/gutter heating and ramp heating systems can be specified to prevent snow and ice build-up and formation.
âž¡ For complete information about Chromalox Cables please refer to the product sections below – heat trace cables in self-regulating, constant wattage or mineral insulated (MI) technology are available to suit all types of pipework (plastic, metallic, stainless steel), workplace location (non-hazardous or hazardous area) and process temperature heating up to 593° Celsius.
