Why Is a Heat Loss Calculation Important?
Uncontrolled heat loss can lead to:
Temperature instability
Higher energy consumption
Reduced system efficiency and safety risks
What Is a Heat Loss Calculation?
A heat loss calculation determines the rate at which heat escapes from a system to its surrounding environment. Key factors include:
✅ Material composition ✅ Surface area exposure ✅ Ambient and internal temperatures ✅ Insulation properties ✅ Environmental conditions (e.g., wind, humidity, altitude)
Our heat loss calculation services include:
IBC & Drum Heating Maintain optimal temperatures for viscous fluids such as bitumen, oils, and chemicals — preventing crystallisation or degradation.
Pipework & Valve Trace Heating Protect pipelines from freezing and maintain flow during cold conditions.
Tank & Vessel Heating Ensure critical storage tank temperatures in sectors like food processing, pharmaceuticals, and petrochemicals.
Hazardous Area Heating ATEX/IECEx certified heat tracing for safe operation in explosive gas and dust environments.

Hazardous Area LED Lighting
Zone 1 & Zone 2 LED Light Fittings
When it comes to ensuring plant safety, enhancing worker comfort, and managing maintenance costs, the luminaires you select today will play a crucial role for years to come. Emerson™ presents the Linmaster™ LED Series of linear luminaires, designed specifically for rugged Zone 1, 2, 21, and 22 applications.
Certified for IECEx and ATEX installations, the Linmaster™ luminaires offer a hazardous area led lighting performance that matches or surpasses that of our established FE and FN Series fluorescent luminaires, as well as the FELED and FNLED linear non-metallic luminaires. These products have long been regarded as the industry standard.
With the Linmaster™ Series, you can leverage the same footprint and mounting hardware as the FE and FN Series, providing a seamless and efficient retrofit for any existing fluorescent installations. The range of lumen outputs available ensures that you’ll find the right fit for your specific task or general-purpose application, regardless of mounting height.
For unparalleled corrosion resistance, durability, and performance, trust in the Emerson brand. Choose Appleton™ Linmaster™ Series luminaires—your reliable partner in illuminating your workspace.
Linmaster™ Luminaires make it easy to replace existing fluorescent fixtures because they feature the same mounting dimensions and mounting accessories as original FE and FN fluorescent luminaires. Hazardous Area LED Lighting is available in light output from 2,500 to 7,000 lumens. In the rare event maintenance is needed, the cover can be quickly removed to access the internal components, while the specially designed hinged cover speeds up the process of replacing drivers, or other components.
Retrofitting Made Easy
The Linmaster™ Series includes models that provide illuminance and lighting distribution comparable to our FE Series fluorescent luminaires, with additional models that offer even more application possibilities. Choose the diffused cover option for the greatest uniformity, least amount of glare, best vertical illumination and safest photobiological rating.
The lighting simulation below compares three luminaires, each mounted at 4.5 m (15 ft) in a room with the dimensions 10m (32.8 ft) x 10m (32.8 ft) x 4.5m (15 ft).The photometric simulated colour rendered images below demonstrate the seamless transition with either luminaire.

advantages
The new heating cables ELSR-H+ and ELSR-SH+ offer the following benefits:
Longevity
Sustainability
Saving weight
Optimised energy consumption
1. Longevity
ELSR-H+ and ELSR-SH+ impress with their low ageing in the standardised cycle test in accordance with DIN EN 60079-30-1. Compared to conventional heating cables, which pass the cycle test in accordance with DIN EN 60079-30-1 but show a reduction in performance due to temperature ageing, these new cables show negligible performance losses throughout the test and beyond. This means that precise power output is guaranteed even after the duration of the cycle test.
2. Sustainability
Sustainability is a core priority for Eltherm and was an integral part of the development of the self regulating heating cables ELSR-H+ and ELSR-SH+. By recycling process residues, Eltherm have achieved significant savings in fluoropolymers during production. Consequently, Eltherm and Thorne & Derrick are able to reuse up to 10% of the heating cable matrix material in the manufacturing process.
3. Saving weight
The implementation of new manufacturing processes has led to a significant reduction in the cable drum weight. This results in a weight saving up to 15% which reduces the transport weight and improves handling on a construction site.
4. Optimised energy consumption
The precision of the manufacturing processes ensure the exact production of the specified power levels, allowing for precise dosing of the required heating power.
