Hazardous Area Pipeline Heat Tracing

What is ATEX heat Tracing?

ATEX heat tracing involves the use of specialised heating cable systems that have been developed in accordance with ATEX regulations for use in hazardous areas – where there is a danger of explosions due to the presence of flammable gases, liquids, or dust. ATEX trace heating cables are used to maintain a consistent temperature to prevent frost damage of pipework.

Trace Heating Systems consist of electrical heating cables and controls that are installed on pipes, vessels, and other equipment to keep them at a specific temperature. The heating cables are designed to withstand harsh conditions, including corrosive chemicals, mechanical impact, and extreme temperatures. ATEX trace heating systems are classified into two types: self-regulating and constant wattage trace heating. Self-regulating heating cables can adjust their heat output according to the temperature of the surface they are installed on, while constant wattage cables have a fixed output and require a temperature controller to regulate their heat output.

ATEX approved electrical heat tracing solutions provide safety and conformity with international and national standards in chemical plants, cement plants, industrial flour mills, oil and gas plants and sewage treatment plants; to name a few.

ABSTRACT

Conference Paper By Terry McDonald

“Fake ATEX Products & Certificates – How Big Is The Problem?”

Safety and compliance should always come first but unfortunately there are companies that make cost and profit their priority. There are many examples of fake goods and incorrectly certified products being sold into the explosive atmosphere industry, but just how big is this problem and how can we all take our share of the responsibility to prevent this? The discussion will highlight some recent examples of fake/non-compliant products and how training and competency levels must improve throughout the supply chain to combat this problem.

Don’t let FAKE become FATAL!
