Intrinsically Safe Smartphone Smart-Ex 02 DZ1
The intrinsically safe smartphone can be extended by pairing with the Ex-camera Cube 800 for hands-free operation in potentially dangerous areas.
The intrinsically safe thermal image video camera is certified for use in Zone 1 / Div. 1 Ex environments. Workers can safely inspect processes and analyze complex assets thanks to the Cube 800 enabling simultaneous streaming of HD and infrared video.
Live image and video feature is available in the digital workspace as a special request. Support is available for the technician live on site therefore critical areas in the plant can be identified using thermal images and instructions for repair can be given remotely.
For a new form of hands-free cooperation and better employee protection in hazardous areas, the Smart-Ex 02 can also be synchronized with the ecom Smart-Ex Watch (based on the Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch). Integrated GPS and motion sensors make monitoring of the current status regarding critical values possible and guarantee rapid location determination in case of an emergency.
A hands-free navigation simplifies operation and a rotatable bezel allows quick and easy scrolling through apps and commands, even with gloves. Hands-free workflows and operator communication support enterprise-wide solutions. The Smart-Ex Watch is fully B2B-capable, offering up to five days of performance and up to 28.5 hours of GPS time.

Ecom has recently introduced the Ex-Handy 10 an intrinsically safe 4G mobile phone another excellent addition to the world’s first Ex-Handy series. The Zone 1 and Div. 1 certified 4G/LTE feature phone is suitable for a number of application due to its simple and robust design.

MEDC BG Manual Alarm Call Points
CCCF Certification
Eaton Hazardous Area Communications group has announced that some of their MEDC products are now certified with CCCF certification.
The CCCF products include the BG break glass call point, XB15 xenon strobe beacon and the DB3B electronic high power sounder, increasing the ranges’ already impressive approvals list, such as CQST.
This advancement has come about thanks to internal and external testing allowing Eaton to be able to provide CCCF and CQST certifications for ATEX call points, beacons and sounders – CQST approval means the product can be installed on Chinese fire alarm systems.
These selected products are a valuable addition to any fire system, with a certified operation temperature reaching +70°C, lightweight GRP construction, and an ingress protection rating of IP66 and IP67. The maximum output for the DB3B is 122dB (@1m +/- 3dB) and the XB15 up to 382Cd.
Eaton MEDC BG are manual fire alarm ATEX call points designed for use in flammable atmospheres and harsh environmental conditions in ATEX Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas.
The GRP enclosure of the hazardous area call points are suitable for use offshore or onshore where light weight combined with a high level of corrosion resistance is required.
The Eaton MEDC BG range of Zone 1 & Zone 2 call point caters for numerous options such as variety of colours, LED indication, earth continuity, double switch, etc
Eaton MEDC XB15 are ATEX beacons that have been designed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres and harsh environmental conditions in ATEX & IECEx Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas.
The enclosures are suitable for use offshore or onshore, where light weight combined with corrosion resistance is required.
The housings of the ATEX beacons are manufactured completely from a UV stable, glass reinforced polyester. Stainless steel screws and mounting bracket are available ensuring a totally corrosion-free product.
The MEDC XB15 hazardous area beacon contains a supervisory diode and four wire lead connections for alarm applications.
Eaton MEDC DB3B are high power explosion proof ATEX sounders introduced as a replacement for the current DB3 with improved functionality and performance.
The hazardous area sounder is certified for use in a wide range of temperatures from -55ºC to +70ºC in ATEX & IECEx Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas.
The DB3B sounder proves its versatility by additionally being able to work with a common positive supply and switching the negatives. The tone stages of the DB3B can also be controlled via voltage free contacts provided by a control panel.
The flexibility of the range continues with a wide range of supply voltages. The short flare option is worthy addition to the range offering a high SPL in a compact unit.

Pepperl+Fuchs are pleased to announce an addition to their HMI device accessories range: the new USB intrinsic safety barrier SK-PC-Z1D1-UU1-10-HS.
The new barrier connects a host device, such as an industrial PC, to a USB device, such as a Pepperl+Fuchs EXTA2/EXTA3 keyboard or a flash drive, in a Zone 1/21 environment.
The barrier is able to change the two USB channels into intrinsically safe circuits enabling transmission of USB signals from and into hazardous areas.
USB Intrinsic Safety Barrier – SK-PC-Z1D1-UU1-10-HS
SK-PC-Z1D1-UU1-10-HS USB intrinsic safety barrier is shock and vibration resistant thanks to its rugged design.
Two 4-screw terminal blocks ensure a robust connection. Flexible installation is a major advantage and can be adapted to suit the needs of the customer and application. With its wide operating temperature range of -20 °C up to +60 °C, the USB barrier is also suitable for use in extreme temperatures.
A suitable enclosure that corresponds to at least IP54 in accordance with IEC/EN 60079-0 allows the barrier to be used in Zone 2/22, while the connected EXTA2 keyboard can be installed in Zone 2/22 or 1/21.
The USB intrinsic safety barrier is installed in the non-hazardous area, while connected devices are in explosion-hazardous areas.
Another option for use in explosion-hazardous areas is installing the USB barrier in a purged and pressurized enclosure. Since the USB barrier provides an intrinsically safe circuit, the connected USB keyboard does not need to be purged and pressurized if it is certified for use in Zone 1/21.
