The Cable Safety Hook Extreme is an advanced specification and high performance cable hook manufactured with glass reinforced PBT and is UV stabilized, Flame Retardant (Class: 94V-0, Flame Class Rating 3) and Cold Weather rated. The S-Shaped design of the cable support hooks is the industry standard control measure for the reduction in trip hazards relating to trailing electricity cables – these temporary cables are typically used to connect electrical equipment, pumps, generators and lighting in Shutdown & Turnarounds.
In the following article, T&D overview several types of VEGA sensors used to measure level and pressure in petrochemical industry processes – ATEX level sensors with hazardous area certification are used extensively in “explosion-proof” applications for accurate level measurement.
ATEX Level Sensors – VEGA Level Measurement For Industrial & Hazardous Area Processes
Crude oil is transported either directly from the oil wells or from an oil terminal to the refinery via the pipeline. The pipeline is the means of transport

for various oil and distillation products. The environment is protected as concrete impounding basins can be found where pig valves or slide valve stations are located stopping leakages of the shut of devices.
Pressure transmitters are usually connected to a pipeline via impulse piping.
The VEGABAR 52 pressure transmitter is especially well suited for this application. The mechanical construction of the sensor and its high overload resistance guarantee a reliable measurement of pressure conditions.
The VEGA vibrating level switch VEGASWING 63 is ideal for detecting levels in the impounding basin delivering a dependable level signal that is completely product independent – the VEGA sensor complies with the requirements of SIL 2 for implementation in safety-critical applications.
VEGAPULS 62 radar type ATEX level sensor is specified to provide continuous level measurement for leakage monitoring. Due to the level sensors small dimensions and powerful signal focussing, the sensor can be mounted very close to the vessel wall. VEGA non-contacting measuring principle operates independent of weather conditions and is completely maintenance free – the continuous level signal can also be used to generate multiple limit levels in the control system.
Rain or ground water often penetrates into the impounding basin. To detect how much oil and how much water is in the basin, the VEGAFLEX 67 guided microwave sensor is applied. The VEGA sensor can measure the thickness of the oil layer as well as the total level in the basin. With this information, it provides the basis for deciding whether or not the facility poses a danger to the environment.
